Bedard will remain in custodyDec 29 2006 11:33AM
Associated Press The 37-year-old Bedard was arrested a week ago in Maryland on charges that she'd violated a child custody order by bringing her 12-year-old daughter to the United States. The Quebec native has been in the custody of U-S marshals since the arrest, while her daughter is back with Bedard's ex-husband. Bedard waived extradition, but Assistant U-S Attorney Philip Jackson told the court her transfer may be delayed by the holidays and by funeral observances in Washington for former President Gerald Ford. Bedard faces up to ten years in prison on the child abduction charge. Her attorneys contend she didn't break any laws. % |
