Bull Sessions, yes it is.Same gal owns it...........I lived in Roundup from 1957 to 1972.....than 1988-1990......... Reply...
Fossil, I lived there in the early 80's. I still have family there and all over Mushelshell co. I dont get back there near as often as I should.
Was Bull sessions there on main when you lived there? Reply...
Fossil, it was a very interesting part of my life that I find both funny and sad. The things we did to rule huh? lololol My mother brings it up a lot whenever my daughters ask about my teen years. It's not fair!
FROG, that was a funny story!!!! Reply...
Like I said earlier, i was not a bad kid.
I do remember this one time my mother was furious, my brother was rather mean to me as a child he was 4 years older than I and I think I was just always in his way....not to mention he was just and still is bad.
We were all playing hide and seak and I hid in this closet where my mother kept all of the old blankets and curtains ( she changed the house with every season so we had a lot of them). According to my mother they searched for me for hours i was about 5. I had fallen asleep in the closet and i didn't hear or know a thing. My mother called the police, had half of the neighborhood out looking for me and I was in the house inside of the closet all along.
My brother and my aunt got their butts tore up and my mother outlawed the game. I laugh everytime she tells this story. Reply...
ROTFLMAO,I could have hung out with people like you...........At least we weren't bored huh...............................LOL Reply...
How did I miss this post? You guys are a bunch of meanies! lolololol
Well, I have to admit that I was a pretty mean gal too. I had my own little group/clique and we ruled the school. Those who didn't belong were not "allowed" within a few feet of me. I invited people to imaginary parties and they usually ended up in old folks' homes. I was a hot mess!
Anyway, this part is funny....I was in a computer class during my second year in college. There was this girl who sat directly behind me who constantly stared at me with a frown. Finally, I turned around and confronted her about it...and so the conversation went....
"What's the matter?" I asked
"You don't remember me do you?" she snapped back.
I just shook my head.
Then she said, "I was one of the gals you invited to a so-called costume party and gave me the address to an old couple's home. I was humiliated."
What was I suppose to say? So I said, "I'm sorry, but that was a long time ago."
She said, "I will never forgive you." Then she picked up her books and moved to another seat.
Ooookay....lololololol. I did feel bad though. The moral of the story? BE NICE!
I did change though once I got to my senior year...so that's a good thing! Reply...
The Busy Bee,I lived right next door to it in the early 60's,than Dad bought a place at Camp Three, just outside of town, next to Tony's and the Miners bar.........Oh ya the Busy Bee is still open, great food and has a casino in it......They built onto it and its still right below Laundry Hill road............I go back to Roundup two to three times a year,my brothers still live there.........Still alot of bars there and they still get routie!!!! When did you live there??? Did you buddy up with some people there and still keep in contact with them??? I still know alot of people there..The highway to Billings is all brand new and fast, only takes 40 minutes to get there from Roundup......... Reply...
Holy smokes Fossil, I grew up right by Roundup, even lived there for a few yrs. Small world. Remember the Busy Bee? Reply...
I remember getting caught smoking ( about 15) and my Mom thought she would teach me a lesson. She got a pack of Camel unfiltered and made me chain smoke the pack. (I didn't inhale) So went out drinken with a bunch of friends that night, got pretty smashed, puked all over myself in bed during the night. Mom thought the next morning that I got sick from smoking the whole pack, HaHa. But then my Dad found out abou the smoking and out to the garden I went to pull weeds. Puked in the green beans and still can't eat then to this day. Always wonder if someone else may have puked on them. Reply...
Sorry, Geez, I had no DARKSIDE... Ha... just daddies little angel like i said..
fossil, please continue. I really think these true life experiences of yours would be great as an addition to your backwoods cookbook.... :) Reply...
I too was raised in Montana in the 50's and 60's.........The land of the drunks(ha ha).....(We had 17 bars in Roundup,MT) Population 2300,miners coal,lumbermen,oilfield,ranchers............(not a good mix) Yes I forgave my parents too,but I never forgot!!!My three brothers and I raised ourselves pretty much, thats why we always had trouble follow us...(ha ha). I remember one time at a picnic(local people) my brother came running by us with five darts in his back!!!! We asked who did it and found the older guy(by four years)and cornered him and darted him in the legs and arms till he cried, than beat him up a bit! He went screaming to his big brother(ten years older than us)...His brother came over and asked us if we did that,we said yes and was ready for a ass kicking, but the guy gave us $5.00 and said, thanks for kicking his butt,he needed it(ha ha).... We had this crazy man that lived a few blocks from us when we were kids.He only came out at night, well he also wore masks to scare kids! One night my brothers and I were playing in our bedroom and had the window open(hot)..I hurt myself for some reason and started crying, this dude pokes his head into the window and yelled "quit crying you baby"!!!! That freaked us out we went into Dad's bedroom and told him what happened,he went chasing the guy,but lost him! Anyhow, long story short, they finally get this guy and send him to the "Funny Farm"........So us guys and a couple friends,(we were about 7 or 8)went over to his house and it was all boarded up,so we kicked in the bottom half of the door to get in. That house was trashed and a mess, but fun to snoop and see what he had.... Well after a while we heard this voice outside"Ok kids, get your asses outside"!!!! We all go" HOLY CRAP".....................As we are going out the bottom of the door the "Chief of Police" is standing by the door kicking each kid in the ass as we go out the door! We all are standing in line he is looking at us chewing his cigar and than said,"Ok this is the deal, you kids go home, never come back and I won't tell your folks"....... We take off running home and he is laughing his ass off fixing the door.............. To be continued....................(If you like) Reply...
Fossil, I can't imagine sitting around watching animals getting butchered. Yowzah! I had a rotten childhood pretty much too, with lots of bad memories, but I eventually forgave my parents and moved on. I figured they did the best they knew how, like all of us do. I'm thankful I turned out okay though, instead of going the other direction..... Reply...
Lag... I can't beleive you really would do the newspaper and poop escapade! That was unbeleivable! GROSS! (but funny) Reply...
another good memory i have is when my buddy matt stole some old guys newspaper back around 85 0r 86 and unfolded it and took a crap in it and rolled it back up and put the rubberband back on i never laughed so hard in my entire life, that old guy was a prick Reply...
Fossil I am cracking up at your post about going thru a lot of babysitters. Nobody would babysit me when i was a kid, if my dad was lucky enough to find me a sitter they came in packs of 3.
I held one sitter hostage with the cattle prod for 5 hrs once.
When my mom left us when I was 10 I told every one she joined the mafia.
I turned my dad into social services for abuse when he wouldnt let me go to a party ( montana social services back in those days told my dad he should spank me more and maybe I wouldnt be so unruly)
Took dads pickup cruising when he was out of town ( I had no steering papers) rear ended someone.
Pushed my brother down the stairs every chance I got.
To this day I fake any contagious affliction to get out of going to my inlaws. ( I even faked head lice once.) Reply...
I always hated the nieghbor kid, he was so retarded he was such a mommies boy so one day when me an a couple of buddies were hangin out at my parents old place, the nieghbor kid had his bike outside and i loosened up the bolts on the front tire when he went into the house and when he came back he hopped onhis bike then he jumped off the curb and the front tire went rolling away from him and he fell face first onto the street haha that bastard even had to go too the e.r. an get stitches, poor hair lip larry!! HAHAA Reply...
Amen to this topic! Sorry y'all but I just woke up. I worked a string of midshifts and trying to catch up on sleep is killin' me. I laughed at the many stories here. Some of you were really naughty! Come on, Shoppe, you know you had a "dark side" when you were little. Dig a little deeper! hahaha I'm going to get me some grub and then i'll be back. keep on postin'! Don't stop at the meanest thing too. How about just good ol' kid stuff that you remember doing and getting away with it or getting into trouble? Reply...
That is sad Fossil. Childhood should be carefree (with childhood responsibilities of course) and fun. I feel very fortunate.
One time in particular stands out in my memory. I went for an evening out with my boyfriend. I don't know how old I was. Must have been 16 or 17. We went rollor skating and then headed home to the farm. We had several favorite places to stop and "watch the stars" This particular night, the place we stopped had a bunch of pot holes filled with water. It had rained that day a great deal. Long story short, we got the car stuck in the mud and the more we tried to get it out the worse stuck we were. My boyfriend (now my husband) decided he had to walk for help or we would never get out. He walked to a farmers home close by, and called his brother to come pull us out. Well, he came to pull us out with his 4 wheel drive truck and we got free of the mud. However, we were not free from the wrath that my mother and father had on their faces the next morning at chore time. I was 1 1/2 hours late for my 11:00 pm curfew the night before so they planned plenty of hard manuel labor for me the next day as well as a cut in my already very meager allowance. It was a long exhousting day but when we discuss it with my brother in law now we still get a good laugh. Thank goodness for a brother in law who had 4 whell drive! Reply...
We use to sit in the ditches and throw rocks at the semi's going by too,got nailed good for that one!!!! Everyone use to swim in the local river and it got pretty wild there some days! The local hoods would show up and if you were on their Sh&% list, you were given a choice to swim across and( Or )get thrown in! We had mellow days too, head out into the mountains and just enjoy the outdoors without the people around you..........We would be gone all day, never pack anything to eat, just go to get away, always drank from the local creeks, sneak into town to the bakery and get free donut holes or go to the local slaughterhouse, watch them slaughter cows, pigs, whatever was there that day, than get free hotdogs and cheese from the butcher(he thought we were nuts to stay and watch them slaughter animals)..............Off we would go and scamper somewhere else till dark, than head home........ I have lots of horrid childhood stories!!! I hated my childhood and would never want to relive it again!! Never!!! Reply...
I remember one spanking in particular... it was the only time I got "the belt". I was young (5-6-ish) and we lived in a trailer court... a new family moved in a row over and they had two boys, one was a year older than me (he happened to be black). My parents would leave me home alone quite a bit, the only rule was not to leave the trailer court and not to have friends in the house. Well, dad came home unexpectedly one day... and I was in the house with my friend, we were coloring in coloring books.... OOooohhhh, was dad MAD! He ran off my friend... needless to say, I didnt understand why he was so mad, I got the belt and I bawled for hours, mostly because I didn't understand. Turns out dad wasnt so keen on blacks. Well, I didnt know there was any difference at that age, nor did I understand what the big deal was.
I also used to spend the summers on my grandparents farm, my aunt/uncle/cousins lived across the road. My cousin and I would go into town at night and get drunk with his friends, one night Cousin was real drunk, we had a car full of friends and we were driving to a party spot out in the boonies. First we stopped at the Farmers Union and loaded the car hood, roof and trunk with old tires so we could burn them. On the way down the prairie trail to the party spot we lost half of them. We arrived at the spot, when we saw someone else coming down the trail, so Cousin thought it was a cop, so we all piled in the car and took off down the trail and then into a corn field (the corn was mature, about 6ft tall) the only thing we could see was the corn stalks folding under the bumper in front of the car... luckily, Cousin knew the field, because he knew the area well. We came out on the other side of the field and made our way back to town via a gravel road. Cousin was hitting the ridge of gravel and dirt clumps that the maintainer piles up on one side of a gravel road... so all of a sudden black smoke starts pouring out of the vents in the car, Cousin slows down and slams the car in park and everyone piles out of the car(thinking it was going to blow up), well, the dip stick had bounced out of the holder and had splashed the engine with oil, thus the black smoke... Ugh, we made it back to town, Cousin passed out, I drove us back to the farm... That was the most exciting story I remember, there was a lot of crazy stuff we did. Reply...
