UNDATED (AP) The new Associated Press Top-25 College Football Poll has been released and once again the number-one school is Alabama. The Crimson Tide received 44 first place votes to 21 for second-ranked Texas Tech. Rounding out the top-five this week are Florida, Texas and Oklahoma.

AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) This week's stop on the Nascar circuit is the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Jimmie Johnson entered the weekend with a 106-point lead over Carl Edwards with two races to go in the Chase for the championship.

SHIMA, Japan (AP) Shin Ji-yai (jee-eye) won the Mizuno Classic for her second LPGA Tour title of the year. She shot a final round 5-under 67 today to easily hold off Mayu Hattori. Shin finished at 15-under 201.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) Venus Williams was the winner of the WTA's Sony Ericsson Championship in Doha, Qatar today. The seventh-seed defeated Russian eight-seed Vera Zvonareva (zvahn-uh-RAY'-vah) in the title match, 6-7, 6-love, 6-2.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The NFL game this evening is being played in Philadelphia as the Eagles entertain the New York Giants in a big NFC East contest. The Giants start play in first place with 7 wins in 8 games while the Eagles are 5-and-3.
