Both teams were able to move up after the Red Raiders knocked off previous number-1 Texas on Saturday. Penn State remains third, ahead of the Longhorns and Florida. UNDATED (AP) The NFL's conference leaders won again yesterday, although the Tennessee Titans needed overtime to improve to 8-and-0. Rod Bironas (bih-ROH'-nuhs) drilled his fourth field goal of the day to push the AFC-leading Titans to a 19-16 win against Green Bay. Brandon Jacobs ran for 117 yards and a touchdown as the New York Giants crushed Dallas 35-14, leaving the NFC's top team at 7-and-1. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Carl Edwards won the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway yesterday while cutting into Jimmie Johnson's lead in the Sprint Cup standings. Edwards finished almost a full straightaway ahead of pole-sitter Jeff Gordon to pull within 106 points of Johnson with two races left. Johnson was a lap down at one point in the race before finishing 15th. PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Philadelphia Phillies will introduce Ruben Amaro Jr. as their new general manager today. Amaro spent the last decade as assistant GM and was considered the front-runner for the job after Pat Gillick said last year this he would step down after the 2008 season. Amaro got the nod over Mike Arbuckle, who spent the last 15 years with the Phillies. UNDATED (AP) Ryan Palmer sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the PGA's Ginn (gihn) sur Mer Classic. Andy Bean cruised to a nine-shot victory over Gene Jones at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Sonoma Golf Club in California.
