Actually, she didn't jump the shark, she just doesn't have the entertainment versatility to maintain interest over time. Sigh.
And as for the media commenting... well the left has long controlled the message and tone of the so called news with little regard for the facts anymore. Long and gone is doble checking facts and getting support. Instead they interject thier political opion in most everything which is produced to promote thier agenda. Now there's a meaningful dialogue on the issues...

this article twists his meaning to their agenda, and i see many conservatives on here will not think objectively, but it still proves my point, which is that maher did not say that dick cheney should be attacked, he simply said that others should have the right to say that. and that the world would be a better place if he were dead, which is different then saying he should actually be targeted. he just wouldnt miss the guy or feel bad for him.
his statement was also not a lie, it was an opinion, yet ann coultier has made many bad jokes (she calls them jokes anyways) and remarks while sounding like she wants to be taken seriously, like calling jon edwards a fag, and the 9/11 wives heartless selfish people, and worse of course. she is speaking as if she has fact on her side when nothing she says is proven, while bill maher made an opinion, along with the fact that dick cheney not being alive today would have saved lives.

My problem with Ann Coulter is that her basic position is if you disagree with President Bush or me (Ann Coulter) then YOU ARE A TRAITOR. There are places where this IS the government policy or was - North Korea, Cuba, Burma, China, the USSR and Nazi Germany are good examples. One of many things that makes the US different is that it's recognized here that I can be a Patriot and legitmately disagree with you who are also a Patriot. Ann Coulter denies this. Whether she does it because of her beliefs or because it makes her millions is irrelevant. When Mrs. Edwards says that saying nasty things about those who disagree with you lowers the level of political debate and is therefore harmful, she is correct. Mrs. Cheney would probably agree with her. If all you are concerned with is which "side" someone is on, rather than what they say, I would suggest you need to examine your North Korean tendencies. If you and I were to suddenly find ourselves in a Baghdad alley with a group of irate Al Queda members outside, I would bet that you might be more interested in how much extra ammo I had and how good a shot I was. The American flag on the shoulder would, at that point, no longer have a "right" or "left", Republican or Democrat attached.
But that's not the 'original issue' some of these right-wing morons are trying to point out. It is true that Bill Maher said that about Dick Cheney. It's also true (is this the original issue?) that Ms. Coulter called Edwards a 'faggot.' Aside from it being a false statement, what good does that do anyone? Nobody can really point out what the 'original' issue is at this point. It may not be the original issue, but I think the most important one is that Mrs. Edwards is right in pointing out that Ann Coulter does basically nothing to further political discourse in this country. I support her right to say whatever the hell she wants, but no one can convince me she's anything more than an idiot. People who like her are also idiots.
Your template message about the media is getting really old. You are doing the same thing you accuse your opponents of by spewing the same lines we've all heard before from many others. It might be best for everyone if we formed original thoughts and realize that sweeping generalizations are best broken down and picked apart.

AMERICANS matter. We The People matter. The above-mentioned politicians have done little, if anything, other than divide us as a people, carrying us into their little personal spats and tirades. Everyone should forget what these people say and look at what they all do... cause us to argue with ourselves.
We are nothing as a country if we aren't discussing our differences like rational adults and making comprimises to achieve the best legislation for the majority. Given the nastiness on the part of our politicians one might think it would be better if we separated into two countries.
That's not my America. My Fellow Americans care for one another and try to help one another through difficult times. My Fellow Americans support their warriors, whether or not they support the war in which they fight. My Fellow Americans, like the vigilant Founding Fathers that came before them, prove their Patriotism by actively questioning the decisions of the officials who claim to represent them. We do not prove our patriotism by the party lines we walk. Power corrupts.
How can we promote unity government in other nations if We can not find unity?
LIBERALS: If you're so liberal, why can't you empathize with the other side? The future is an ALL OF US issue. That includes the Religious Right (who are Your Fellow Americans) and the NeoCons (who are also Your Fellow Americans).
CONSERVATIVES: Time to try to conserve the good will of the world and Your Fellow Americans by backing down on the 'anyone-who-doesn't-agree-is-a-terrorist-sympathizer' rap. We all want the same things here. Security, Health, Opportunity, and Justice. We will not find any of the above if we don't work together to find compromises that benefit the overall, diverse populace of This Great Nation.
ALL: Both parties have lost their way and in doing so have become outmoded. Serving in public office to represent Your Fellow Americans is a privilege. It's time for all to stop thinking of politics as a reality gameshow or a battle. "A nation divided... cannot stand." As long as both sides continue to press 'do-it-my-way-only' scenarios, we will continue to accomplish little for the good of the country.
There is a war within this country and it is not fought on party lines. This war isn't about black vs white, left vs. right, poor vs. rich, or old vs. young. This war is about those who are positive and those who are negative. Ann Coulter and those of her ilk are negative and we cannot let them distract us from the real issues.
Ann Coulter doesn't matter and Americans should stop taking cues from opinionists. Search for the facts about your officials in the transcripts of their sessions. Forget about Ann, Rush, Al, Bill, George, Michael, Karl, and all the other talking heads in America. They don't matter. WE matter more than they ever will... because, ultimately, WE determine their fate and in doing so, determine our own. Otherwise, the vote of the almighty dollar will always count more than that of the American citizen.

I hold no brief for anyone whose idea of arguing is to call someone else names. I didn't like it when Al Franken's book came out titled "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot." I didn't like it when Michael Moore took a few "artistic licenses" with the truth in "Bowling for Columbine" (and still got an Oscar for "best documentary"!)
And I don't like it when Ann Coulter spews her venom about "liberals," which seems to have expanded to "anyone who disagrees with her." H. G. Wells once said that "the person who raises a fist is the person who has run out of ideas." Some of these pundits have resorted to this in a verbal sense, and I believe that Wells' statement holds true for them as well.
