ND Gov. Hoeven polishing State of State speech

Eds: APNewsNow.

Bismarck, N.D. (AP) North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven is polishing his State of the State speech in preparation for the start of the 2009 Legislature.

The Legislature begins at noon Tuesday. Hoeven is delivering his address at 1 p.m. He'll be speaking in the House chambers to a joint session of the House and Senate.

The governor was in the Capitol Sunday night to revise his address and make sure the teleprompter he will use is in good order.

The first days of the Legislature are taken up by official speeches.

Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle will deliver his State of the Judiciary address on Wednesday. Spirit Lake Sioux Chairwoman Myra Pearson is speaking Thursday on the relationship between tribal governments and North Dakota's state government.
