Sun Country CEO: 'Business as usual' at airline, despite Chapter...Oct 6 2008 5:44PM
Associated Press MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The chief executive of Sun Country Airlines says the airline is doing "business as usual," despite filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The filing comes just days after the founder of Sun Country's parent company, Petters Group Worldwide, was charged in a multimillion dollar fraud investigation. Sun Country chairman and CEO Stan Gadek (GAY'-deck) says the airline plans to continue operating on its normal schedule and that customers wouldn't see a difference. Gadek tells WCCO-AM that he had been involved in two other bankruptcies but says Sun Country's is different because it's not "as a result of a broken business model." Gadek says the airline was profitable in July and August. He says the Chapter 11 filing "allows us to stand on our own, uncouple from the organization and move forward."
