Deer head stuffed in mail drop box

Eds: APNewsNow.

SAWYER, N.D. (AP) The postmaster in the north central North Dakota town of Sawyer got an unpleasant surprise this week.

The Ward County Sheriff's Office says someone stuck the head of a dead deer in the mail drop box at the post office on Monday, apparently as a prank.

Captain Todd Keller says the deer head wasn't of the mounted, stuffed and preserved variety. He says it was decaying.

deer hunting season hasn't opened yet. Keller says the head might have come from roadkill.

Posted by lukee on Aug 27 2008 9:32AM - Regarding the deer head stuffed in a mailbox in Sawyer,,I find it deeply APPAULING! I am a resident of Sawyer and I am proud of our town, it is a wonderful place to raise a family! I think that the kids who had done this should be punished for it! We take pride in our town and this certain group of kids go around disrespecting all of our residents here by doing such things. It is very sad that this has happened,,whatever happened to RESPECT and PRIDE. I am sure though that if these kids were to have their own bikes or motorcycle vandalized they would be irrate! This was FEDERAL PROPERTY,,where is their RESPECT??
