KXMBTV Bismarck The State Railroad Museum held its fifth annual railroad days this afternoon. People of all ages had the chance to walk through old train cars, ride a mini train, get some good food and experience life of a bygone era. It wasn't all fun and games though...There was also a train robbery and shoot out this afternoon as well. The President of the North Dakota State Railroad Museum says trains play a vital role in the history of our region. "When Mandan was settled, it was a railroad town that was settled and the reason was it was a railroad to begin with," said Bill Engelter, the President of the North Dakota State Railroad Museum. The North Dakota State Railroad Museum has been operating for 23 years and it's open Memorial Day to Labor Day. The museum's hours? 1 - 5 p.m. daily. The museum address: 3102 37th Street in Mandan.
