Duncan blames revenge for heinous crimesAug 22 2008 12:36PM
Associated Press BOISE, Idaho (AP) Convicted pedophile Joseph Duncan III claims his decision to abduct, torture and kill a 9-year-old Idaho boy in 2005 was no accident, but part of a hate-filled plan fueled by revenge. Duncan, acting as his own attorney, shared those thoughts with a jury as part of his closing statement in the sentencing phase of his federal kidnapping and murder case. The 45-year-old former Fargo man pleaded guilty in December to 10 federal charges stemming from his 2005 kidnapping of Shasta and Dylan Groene, and the murder of Dylan at a remote campsite in Montana's Lolo National Forest. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Duncan says his intention was to rape and kill until someone killed him. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
