Georgia fighting...Foreclosure woes...Medal count

MOSCOW (AP) In the midst of an increasingly unstable situation in Georgia, Russia's foreign minister says the question of Georgia's territorial integrity is a dead issue. It's a sign that Moscow could absorb two separatist regions.

GORI, Georgia (AP) At least five explosions have been heard near Gori, Georgia, as a Russian withdrawal from the key Georgian city appears to be short-lived. It's not clear yet if the blasts are renewed fighting between Georgian and Russian forces.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) There seems to be some movement in Washington's negotiations with Poland over a proposed U.S. missile defense base there. As negotiators wrap up their latest round of talks on the project that has irritated Russia, Poland's foreign minister says the two sides have narrowed their differences.

WASHINGTON (AP) With a sluggish economy, a weak Housing Market and falling home values, homeowners are finding it more difficult to dodge foreclosure. New data from RealtyTrac says foreclosure filings grew by more than 50 percent in July compared with the same month a year ago.

BEIJING (AP) China is besting the U.S. in the Olympic medal count. The host country has won 33 medals, one more than America's 32. China has also totted up more than twice as many gold medals.
