Chicago's big blow...Awaiting Edouard...Prostate screening...Aug 5 2008 12:56AM
Associated Press CHICAGO (AP) More than 200,000 people in northern Illinois lost power after a nasty storm that triggered Tornado warnings in downtown Chicago. Widespread tree and power line damage are reported in two counties. The storm briefly forced evacuation of the stands at Wrigley Field during a Cubs game. GALVESTON, Texas (AP) From western Louisiana to Port O'Connor, Texas, they're waiting on Tropical Storm Edouard. It's expected sometime Tuesday, perhaps near Galveston, Texas. Forecasters say winds could be near hurricane force. Disaster declarations have already been issued for 17 Texas counties. EIELSON Air Force BASE, Alaska (AP) President Bush is expected in South Korea in several hours after making a brief refueling stop in Alaska. Bush told troops at Eielson Air Force Base that an Alaskan brigade soon leaving for Iraq will be "heading into a different situation." URUMQI, China (AP) China's Olympic organizers say security precautions are ready for the Beijing Olympics beginning Friday. A spokesman says they've prepared "for all possible threats." He downplayed an apparent militant attack in western China that killed 16 policemen who were on a morning jog. NEW YORK (AP) A federal task force says for men over 75, routine screening for prostate cancer can do more harm than good. The task force recommends the test be dropped for older men. In the past, the group has said there's insufficient evidence for recommending prostate screening for men of all ages. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
