WESTLEY, Calif. (AP) Five people are dead after an accident involving an SUV and a septic truck in central California. Both vehicles careened into a swift-moving irrigation canal. Four bodies were recovered from the SUV, one from the truck.

NEW YORK (AP) A woman who lied to adopt 11 disabled children and allegedly abused them has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison. Authorities say Judith Leekin used fake names in a scheme to cheat New York City and New York state out of more than one million dollars.
