KXMCTV Minot Stridiron stands accused of class double-A felony murder in the shooting death of former MSU Football player Joshua Velasquez. Davis is charged with accused of aggravated assault. Stridiron's girlfriend was among the witnesses called today, but jurors also heard from crime scene investigators for the first time and viewed evidence they collected. Dan Erdmann reports. (Dan Erdmann, KX News) It was around 2:30 in the morning on July 29th when Steve Kukowski of the Minot Police Department received a phone call. There had been a shooting in Minot and one hour later, he was investigating the murder scene of Joshua Velasquez. (Capt. Steve Kukowski, Minot Police Dept.) " (Dan Erdmann, KX News) Soon after arriving, Captain Kukowski and fellow officer, Jason SundBakken, said they took several photographs of the murder scene and recorded numerous pieces of evidence. Six bullet casings were collected and a number of blood droplets were found near Velasquez's body. The officers found various blood droplets leading back to Davis's residence as well. While searching the apartment, officers discovered a duffel bag that contained Stridiron's business cards and several other items... (Sgt. Jason Sundbakken, Minot Police Dept.) " (Dan Erdmann, KX News) During their search, officers said they received word of a gun possibly located in Stridiron's apartment next door. Sergeant Sundbakken said in the basement of that apartment, they found a 9mm handgun and ammunition... (Sgt. Jason Sundbakken, Minot Police Dept.) " (Dan Erdmann, KX News) Stridiron's attorney, Robert Martin, once again argued the crime scene had been contaminated and questioned why the bullet casings were never tested for fingerprints. Sundbakken was unable to give a reason, but said the state crime lab may have conducted those tests. Jurors will hear results from the state lab later in the trial. Dan Erdmann, KX News
