Obama closing the gap...Iraq ceasefire...Baby names...May 10 2008 1:55PM
Associated Press SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Barack Obama is very close to erasing Hillary Rodham CLinton's lead among superdelegates. The Utah Democratic Party has named an Obama supporter as its sixth superdelegate. Obama, who picked up nine superdelegates from other states yesterday, is now only a half superdelegate behind Clinton. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Ohio's attorney general continues to lose support over the sexual harassment scandal in his office. Members of the Ohio Democratic Party executive committee today passed a resolution saying they no longer recognize Marc Dann as an endorsed statewide officeholder. Dann has resisted calls to resign. BAGHDAD (AP) There are concerns that a reported cease-fire with militants fighting U.S. and Iraqi forces in Baghdad's Sadr City isn't going to end the clashes. The U.S. military has blamed fighting on breakaway groups from cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army. An al-Sadr aide says the cease-fire goes into effect tomorrow. YANGON, Myanmar (AP) The United Nations has sent in three more planes and several trucks loaded with aid to cyclone-ravaged Myanmar. However, Myanmar's military regime took over the first two shipments. The junta has been distributing aid, but only after boxes, in an apparent propaganda exercise, had been labeled with the names of top generals. Washington (AP) Parents aren't being very original when it comes to baby names. According to a list released today by Social Security Administration, Emily was last year's most popular girl game and Jacob led among boy names. It's the 12th and ninth straight time respectively those names have been the most popular. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 05-10-08 1342CDT |
