MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) The annual report of the Mitchell Technical Institute farm and ranch business management program says dairy profits rose dramatically in 2007.

Ninety-two South Dakota farm and ranch operations take part in the yearly analysis.

The report showed a per-cow profit of almost $660 last year for dairies. In 2007, farmers reported losses of almost $62 per cow.

Hog finishing and cow-calf operations showed smaller profits than the previous year. The $41.12 per-cow profit in 2007 was less than half of the $99.02 profit in 2006.
