Pennsylvania voting...Obama on McCain...Fuel economy plan...Apr 22 2008 11:54AM
Associated Press PHILADELPHIA (AP) Hillary Rodham CLinton and Barack Obama are hoping that crowded firehouses and schools across Pennsylvania translate into votes for their column. Today's Democratic primary will decide the allocation of 158 delegates to this summer's convention. Clinton enters today's contest trailing in delegates and in the popular vote. PITTSBURGH (AP) Barack Obama says his backhanded praise over the weekend for John McCain doesn't undercut the Democratic contention that McCain offers more of the same as President Bush. Obama says it's a "low bar" to say that some of McCain's instincts are better than Bush's. Obama had said that all three candidates would be better presidents than Bush. BAGHDAD (AP) The U.S. military says two American Marines are dead and three others are wounded following a suicide bombing in western Iraq. One civilian was killed and two dozen other residents were wounded in the blast that happened at an entry control point near Ramadi. Washington (AP) A government official says the nation's fleet of new cars and trucks will be required to achieve 31.6 miles per gallon by 2015. The plan being outlined by Transportation Department Secretary Mary Peters would set a schedule that is more aggressive than industry officials had initially expected. SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) Searchers off Brazil's southern Atlantic coast are again looking for a Roman Catholic priest who disappeared after floating into the sky under hundreds of helium party balloons. The priest lifted off Sunday afternoon, and was reported missing about eight hours later. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 04-22-08 1148CDT |
