NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (AP) Authorities say they used a stun gun on an uncooperative driver who later died.

After responding to a traffic crash in the Twin Cities suburb of New Brighton during the Tuesday evening rush hour, state troopers say they tried to bring the situation under control by using a stun gun on the driver.

The state Department of Public Safety says the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The official cause of death has not been determined.

Authorities say the man is from Fridley, but they are waiting to release his name until his family is notified.

The Department of Public Safety says five state troopers are on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.
