Poker Tournament Draws Them In

The flop...the turn...the river.

Any idea what I'm talking about? If you were at the Vegas Hotel today in Minot, chances are the answer is 'yes'! Those three words are terms from Texas Hold'em poker...and the state championship is underway there now.

It started this morning...and preliminary rounds will run through tomorrow before the final table is set for Monday night.

More than a thousand gamblers are fighting for a 30-thousand dollar top prize! The event has grown over the years, and for the first time went over one thousand entries many of whom are big time players.

(Mitch Schock - Tournament Spokesman) "Hundreds and hundreds of amateurs. The buy in is one hundred dollars so the little guy can get in. But the top prize brings lots of pros too. Last year's fourth place player was a well known pro from the area. I expect to see about one hundred pros in the field or top notch players at least."

Part of the proceeds from the tournament will be going to Minot State University where a scholarhip will be put together. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
