Large corn harvest means storage space at a premium...Nov 12 2007 12:57PM
Associated Press ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) Picking corn is one thing. Finding a place to put it is another. And the prediction of a record corn crop in South Dakota means storage is needed. Spink County Extension agent Mark Rosenberg says storage is an issue. He says farmers must either get their crop to a grain elevator or have somewhere to store it. The most recent prediction puts South Dakota's 2007 corn production at 556 million bushels, a record. Neither Rosenberg nor Gary Erickson, the Brown County Extension agent, have heard of any area elevators that have stopped taking grain. Erickson says there's much more on-farm storage than in the past. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-12-07 1247CST |
