E. Idaho angler yanks record brown trout from reservoir...Nov 10 2007 12:57PM
Associated Press ASHTON, Idaho (AP) An Angler from Ashton, Idaho has set a new record for the biggest brown trout ever caught in Idaho waters. Wes Case reeled in a 37-inch lunker that weighed 27.3 pounds, breaking a 26-year-old record. Idaho Fish and Game wardens confirmed the record fish, taken out of eastern Idaho's Ashton Reservoir this past week. Case says he was fishing alone and that he battled the brown trout for at least an hour before landing it without a net. Case says the fish, once hooked, just headed out to deep water and hunkered down in the depths. State biologists estimated the fish's age at 11 years. The previous state record brown trout weighed 26-and-a-half-pounds, and was taken from the South Fork of the Snake River in 1981. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
