Abortion measure contemplatedNov 5 2007 7:35AM
Associated Press SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) South Dakota voters may be asked again next year to decide the issue of legalized abortions in the state. A proposal to further restrict abortion has been filed with the Legislative Research Council for review, but it is not yet being circulated for signatures. It will require 16,776 signatures of registered voters by April 1st to get an initiated law on the general election ballot. A leader of last year's unsuccessful effort to ban most abortions in South Dakota cannot confirm the source of the proposal that's been filed with state officials. Leslee Unruh (UHN'-roo) won't she say if anti-abortion forces plan a ballot measure or will attempt to get the 2008 Legislature to pass an abortion ban. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press.
