Associated Press BAGHDAD (AP) The U.S. military says four American soldiers were killed Monday across Iraq. Three died in an explosion near their vehicle in a northern province. The other died during fighting in Baghdad. At least 35 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq this month. White House (AP) President Bush calls Karl Rove "the architect" for planning his two presidential campaigns and for helping strengthen Republican majorities in Congress in 2002 and 2004. Rove resigned Monday, effective August 31st. He says he doesn't intend to take a formal role with any 2008 GOP presidential candidates. Washington (AP) A new report says Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents ignored or dropped leads and at times entire cases involving terrorist activities because of disputes with the FBI. The report was compiled by the inspectors general of the Homeland Security and Justice departments. HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP) The search for six trapped miners continues at the Crandall Canyon mine in Utah. The co-owner of the mine says "There are many, many reasons to have hope still." Rescuers are drilling a third hole deep into the collapsed mine. DETROIT (AP) A new survey finds U.S. car buyers are more satisfied with their purchases than ever, despite some quality stumbles by Asian brands.
