Minister's missing wife pawned wedding ring

BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) Police say a minister's wife who was last seen four months ago at a religious conference in Louisiana pawned her wedding ring about 30 minutes after she disappeared.

Bossier (BOH'-zhur) City police released a store security picture of Mary Byrne Smith, who had told a friend she was going to a concession stand at the Living Proof Live conference.

No one has reported hearing from her since, but police say they don't have any reason to believe the married mother of two was the victim of foul play.

Their investigation turned up indications of a troubled life in Summerdale, Alabama. Police say she was about to lose her job teaching kindergarten and told co-workers she was divorced.

Police say the Reverend Jason Smith told them that his wife had said she was not a good role model for their children. He made a public plea for her return earlier this year.
