Bismarck, N.D. (AP) The North Dakota Board of Animal Health has ordered testing of most bulls imported into the state.

State veterinarian Susan Keller says the rules are designed to control the spread of trichomoniasis (trik-ah-mah-NY'-ah-sis).

It's a sexually transmitted cattle disease that causes early term abortions and infertility.

Keller says the requirements go into effect July 23rd as a result of the disease being reported in surrounding states.

She says the restrictions are aimed mostly at older bulls.

Keller says bulls that are imported for exhibit, rodeo or seasonal grazing may be exempted.
