State officials say new cars will have to meet mileage standards...Jul 12 2007 9:03AM
Associated Press (Todd McDonald, Prairie Public) Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Officials in charge of buying vehicles for North Dakota's fleet say higher fuel prices are leading to changes. State Fleet Services Director Paul Hanson says that for the first time, all cars purchased for the fleet will have to get at least 29 miles-a-gallon, based on highway mileage. Hanson says the state also is looking into Flex-Fuel vehicles and hybrids. He says the state buys 150-thousand gallons of gasoline each month. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press.
