Malt-O-Meal to open cereal manufacturing facility in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. (AP) Minneapolis-based Malt-O-Meal plans to break ground Tuesday for a new facility in Asheboro, North Carolina, that is expected to create 160 jobs by 2012.

The ready-to-eat cereal maker plans to remodel a 175-thousand-square-foot building and construct 200-thousand square feet of additional space in the Central Piedmont Industrial Park.

Malt-O-Meal has three other production plants, including two in Northfield, Minnesota, and one in Tremonton, Utah.

Officials say the Asheboro facility will begin operations in late 2008.
