Folks in eastern North Dakota are hoping rain stays away over the next few days.

The Red River has been rising and is expected to crest Saturday about 15 feet above flood stage.

Workers in downtown Fargo were shoring up a levee this morning.

Around town, sandbagging efforts are underway with many students pitching in to help protect the town.

The river is at 27 feet which is nine feet above flood stage, but not causing any major damage in Fargo.
